Riverdale Avenue Community School’s early childhood program enrolls 3K and Pre-Kindergarten students and offers a rich instructional program for our youngest learners, preparing them with foundational skills for the elementary years.

Pre-Literacy

Daily reading activities expose our early childhood students to print concepts, phonological awareness, rhyming, and a curiosity and interest in all that books have to offer our imaginations.

Math

Math in 3K and PK focuses on developing pattern, shape, and number awareness through hands-on learning activities and collaborative games.

Learning through Play

Students engage in “centers” each day to support students in making real world discoveries, developing new vocabulary, and engaging in team work.

Gross Motor

Physical activity is an important part of developing healthy bodies and minds. Our 3K and PK students have gross motor time each day outside or in our indoor play area.

Social-Emotional Learning

Our youngest students will learn to recognize feelings in themselves and others, develop language skills to communicate and advocate for themselves, and learn about building successful friendships inside and outside of the classroom.
